When a pupil makes one of these on Revision Workshop, the marking engine names the mistake and explains it, instead of just marking the answer wrong.
Calculates the range when the interquartile range was asked for, or vice versa
Gave the range (max − min) as the answer for the interquartile range
Uses the median instead of the upper quartile when calculating the interquartile range
Subtracted the median instead of the upper quartile (used Q1 to median, not Q1 to Q3)
Gives the maximum value alone instead of the difference between maximum and minimum as the range
Reported the maximum value as the range, forgetting to subtract the minimum
