   This net folds up into a square pyramid. the square is the base, and the four triangles fold up to meet at a single apex.

What are the common mistakes in Nets?

When a pupil makes one of these on Revision Workshop, the marking engine names the mistake and explains it, instead of just marking the answer wrong.

• Misidentifies a net as folding into a prism instead of a pyramid (or vice versa)

  A net with triangular AND rectangular faces (not just triangles meeting at a point) folds into a prism, not a pyramid. A pyramid's net has only one base face plus triangles meeting at a single apex.

• Misidentifies a net as folding into a cuboid instead of a cube (or vice versa)

  A net of six identical squares folds into a cube. A net of rectangles (not all square) arranged in three matching pairs folds into a cuboid.
