What are the common mistakes in Real Life Graphs?
When a pupil makes one of these on Revision Workshop, the marking engine names the mistake and explains it, instead of just marking the answer wrong.
Divides by a conversion factor where multiplying was needed
Divides 10 by 2.2 instead of multiplying, giving 10/2.2 = 4.55 instead of 10 x 2.2 = 22, treating the conversion factor as if kilograms were the larger unit.
Multiplies by a conversion ratio inverted (numerator and denominator swapped)
For part (a), multiplies 15 by 5/8 instead of 8/5, inverting the conversion ratio and getting 9.375 instead of 24 km.
Multiplies by a conversion factor where dividing was needed
For part (b), multiplies 44 by 2.2 instead of dividing, giving 44 x 2.2 = 96.8 instead of 44/2.2 = 20 kg.
